Description

Developers Wright Runstad, and Shorenstein Properties are planning to transform the old Safeway distribution center into a 36-acre, $2.3 billion development site which will include mid-rise office buildings, apartments, and street level retail stores. The first phase of the Spring District construction site will include six office buildings, seven residential buildings, and a two-acre park. According to the development plans, phase one will be completed in 2018. After Phase one has been completed, the development will move north towards the future East Link rail station. 

Phase two which will begin in 2015 and conclude in 2022, will encompass the development of 5 commercial buildings. The last phase of this project will include 3 commercial buildings, 1 hotel, and two residential buildings. The project is expected to be fully completed in 2026.

When The Spring District is complete, "this unique urban development could have 3.7 million square feet of office space, 158,000 square feet of retail, 199,000 square feet of hotel space, and 1.2 million square feet of residential housing.When The Spring District is complete in approximately 15 years, this unique urban development could have 3.7 million square feet of office space, 158,000 square feet of retail, 199,000 square feet of hotel space, and 1.2 million square feet of residential housing". 

Spring District is being designed to meet the LEED-Neighborhood Development standards.
